Dyno tuning is a process used to optimize the performance of a vehicle’s engine. It involves using a dynamometer ( we call it can dyno) which measures various parameters like horsepower, torque, and air-fuel ratio. During the tuning process, the vehicle is strapped onto the dyno, and the engine is run at various speeds and loads. The data collected by the dyno helps the tuner make adjustments to the engine’s parameters, such as fuel delivery, ignition timing, and airflow. These adjustments are aimed at maximizing power, improving fuel efficiency, and ensuring the engine operates within safe limits. We make changes and tests until the desired performance is achieved.

There is a number of benefits including increased performance, torque, throttle response and fuel economy!

One of the main benefits to ECU remapping is moving the power and torque further down in the RPM range meaning you access more power and torque earlier and with less throttle. Typically, we see improvements of 10-15% in horsepower and torque. Depending on the vehicle this can be slightly lower or higher. 

Another benefit that is commonly seen from ECU remapping is the elimination of any flat spots in the power and torque curve. It is common for modern vehicles, particularly common rail diesels to have a flat spot off idle which is demonstrated in the dyno read out below, the bottom line is the power and torque curves of the pre-run when the vehicle was delivered to us and the top line is after ECU remap.

We can perform a Dyno Tune on 99% of Diesel Vehicles. There are exceptions though, so if you think your vehicle might not be applicable, get in touch and we will let you know

You don’t really need to prepare for a Dyno Tune but please ensure your tyres aren’t on the way out. The Dyno measures information by simulating your car actually driving, so the back wheels will be in use on the rotating belts.
